Domination

What is Domination?  Domination is the ability to lead another in a respectful manner and to exercise power to take control of a person or situation.  The Dominant has strength in them that will allow them to exert control in a Total Power Exchange (TPE) relationship and to care entirely about the well being of the person that they may Dominate.

A Dominant may enjoy performing many different BDSM practices on a submissive, or may hold a Dominant position in a relationship based on Dominance and submission.   A male Dominant is called a Dom and a female a Domme or Dominatrix, and as a matter of respect the Dominants name and role, should be written with a capital letter at the start.

For a Dominant to be successful they will need to understand and accept themselves for the person that they are and be understanding and accepting others. They need to be able to communicate and have the ability to talk about any wants or desires, demonstrating skills and power, being compassionate and understanding of the physical and emotional well being and needs of others.  A Dominant is courteous, showing they have manners, honest and respectful to those worthy of it.

A Dominant has a directive role and responsibility to lead and give orders within a BDSM play scene or lifestyle, whether it be punishment or reward, orders or requests, whilst taking care to remain in control, and staying within limits and boundaries set.   A Dominant has the overal management of any play session, choosing tools, games, tasks and play equipment.

To be in service to a Dominant is explained under the submission area of the website. Both relationships compliment each other, equally based on total honesty, respect and trust.

A Master is addressed as such in a Dominant/submissive (D/s) relationship.  A Master within a D/s relationship is usually the owner of a slave or has submissives. He should have specific learned skills and knowledge, great experience and have long standing interests both physically and psycologically within the lifestyle. The Master who has been given the right of authority over a slave (a submissive) will usually have an extended lifestyle living it 24/7.  It is understood that even though a Master has authority over a slave it is not a given right within the eyes of the law and consent must be given and contracts be in place.

A Mistress is addressed as such in a D/s relationship and as with a Master, is usually the owner of a slave or submissives.  She also should have specific learned skills and knowledge and have long standing interests both physically and psycologically within the lifestyle.
